Huel in Australia: Where to Buy It, What It Costs, and the Local Alternatives

Huel does not sell direct in Australia. Its own help centre lists four regional stores, the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union and Sweden, and huel.com/en-au returned a 404 on 15 September 2026. Every Australian route to a bag of Huel runs through somebody else.

That is usually discovered at the checkout, after the reading is done: the listings that do appear quote prices nothing like Huel's own, and none says whether the pack is the current formula. This page sets out what Huel publishes, what the import routes cost, and what the Australian shelf already carries.

Does Huel ship to Australia?

No, and Huel says so itself. Its help centre names stores for the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union and Sweden, tells customers elsewhere to try the UK store, and warns that checkout may return "no shipping methods available" (retrieved 15 September 2026). Australia is not on the list.

The reason is on Huel's own forum, in its staff's words. In November 2016 a Huel team member wrote that they had tried to deliver to Australia and "every time we do customs rejects the parcels". In March 2021 another wrote: "We don't ship to Australia because they basically don't let us... We haven't opened it back up since." In January 2025 Huel's reply was that the reason still stands.

The marketplace check agrees. On 15 September 2026, Amazon AU returned 48 products for "huel powder", none of them Huel, and "No results for your search query" for "huel complete meal". The only Huel-branded item under "huel" was a Daily Greens Bottle at $24.10, a shaker, not food.

What is Huel, and what does its own label say?

Huel is a British complete-food powder, sold as a meal in a shaker rather than a protein supplement. Its formula page names carbohydrate from gluten-free oats and tapioca, protein from pea, faba bean and brown rice, and fats from flaxseed, sunflower and coconut, and states that all Huel products are 100% vegan with "no lactose or any animal products, no soy, and no GMOs".

The panel Huel publishes for a 100g serving of Huel Powder in Cinnamon Roll, read from its own formula page on 15 September 2026: 400 calories, 30g protein, 8g dietary fibre, 47g carbohydrate, 12g fat, 1g total sugars with none added, 280mg sodium, in a 1.73kg bag of 17 servings. Huel states "all 27 essential vitamins and minerals" and dietary fibre of "8-10 grams per serving, depending on which flavor option you choose".

One caveat matters. That is the United States panel, in Daily Value format, because the US store is what Huel serves an Australian request. No Australian panel exists, so an imported pack was never written against Australian labelling rules or local reference values.

How do Australians actually get Huel, and what does it cost?

Two routes exist, plus a suitcase.

  • Someone posts it from the UK. Huel's own staff account of this route is that parcels were returned or destroyed at the border. Check Australian import rules first.
  • A third-party importer. Several global resellers list Huel on Australian-facing storefronts. You buy from them, not Huel, so freight, duties, returns and the batch date are theirs.

On price, nobody publishes one you can rely on. Huel quotes United States dollars on its US store: Powder "From $37.50" at "$2.21 per meal", Black Edition "From $45" at "$2.65 per meal" (retrieved 15 September 2026). Converting that into an Australian price would be a guess. Four reseller routes were tried for a landed figure and each blocked the request or published none, so read the reseller's listing, freight and duties included, on the day you buy.

If what you want is a shake in place of a meal, the local category is ranked on stated criteria in the best meal replacement shakes.

How should you judge a complete meal powder in Australia?

Read four lines off any label before the brand story gets to work.

  • Protein per serve, and its source. Protein contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass and to tissue repair. Pea, faba bean, rice, whey and collagen reach the same gram count from different raw material.
  • Dietary fibre per serve. Under Schedule 4 of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, 7g per serving is the threshold for an excellent source of dietary fibre and 4g for a good source. Dietary fibre contributes to regular laxation, as part of a healthy diet involving a variety of foods.
  • Sugars, and what else the serve carries. A daily shake is a daily sugar decision, and vitamins, minerals, live cultures, essential fats and collagen separate a complete meal powder from a protein tub.
  • Who the formula was calculated for. Australian panels state percentage daily intakes against an average adult diet of 8,700 kJ, the labelling reference value in Standard 1.2.8 of the Food Standards Code. That sits above what the Nutrient Reference Values advise for most adults, so a formula built to it over-delivers calories to the individual drinking it.

Why those lines matter: over 90% of Australian adults do not meet dietary guidelines (AIHW), and fewer than 1 in 20 eat the recommended vegetable serves (ABS, 2023). The shaker covers more than protein.

Figures are each brand's published nutrition information, read 15 September 2026. Flavours vary and brands reformulate, so check current labels before buying. "Not listed" means not on the information we read; per-serve prices are arithmetic on the pack prices shown.

The trade reads straight off the table. Huel and vybey are built to be the meal, at 390 to 400 calories a serve, and they win the rows a meal has to win. None of the first three columns carries collagen or a stated DHA dose, and only one is formulated by life stage. The full label reading of the supermarket option sits in Man Shake alternatives.

What changes when you are eating less?

Plenty of people reach for a complete-food powder because eating has become the hard part, whether the cause is a deliberate deficit, an appetite that has dropped, or rapid weight loss, reduced eating and medically induced weight loss. Fewer meals means each serve carries more of the day.

GLP-1 medicines reduced food intake by roughly a quarter of daily calories (Blundell and colleagues, Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, 2017), and a 2025 study of people on GLP-1 medications found dietary fibre intake averaging 14.5g a day against the recommended 28g (Frontiers in Nutrition).

This page is general information, not medical advice, and decisions about any medication belong with your doctor. Learn more about nutrition when overall intake drops.

Where does HLTH+ fit on that shelf?

HLTH+ answers a different question. It is not built to replace the meal: it is a Formulated Supplementary Food under Standard 2.9.3 of the Food Standards Code, made in Australia in facilities complying with Good Manufacturing Practice, to supplement the food you already eat.

Per 55g Women's sachet: 30g protein, 7g dietary fibre, 5g collagen, 60mg DHA and 10 billion CFU of Lactobacillus Plantarum Postbiotic with prebiotics, at 223 calories with 1.5g of sugar and none added. A postbiotic is the set of compounds a bacterial culture produces, supplied ready-made so nothing has to survive the pack or your stomach acid, where a probiotic is the living organism; that is why the formula uses one, and why the two counts are not like-for-like.

Counted across protein, dietary fibre, vitamins, minerals, collagen and essential fats, a serve comes to 30 essential daily nutrients. It holds a 5-star Health Star Rating, is dairy-free and gluten-free, and carries a balanced multivitamin profile.

No single global formula can answer the formulation argument. HLTH+ publishes separate Women's, Women's 50+, Men's and Men's 50+ formulas, formulated by Accredited Dietitians to the Nutrient Reference Values, the intake levels published in 2006 by the National Health and Medical Research Council, the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing and the New Zealand Ministry of Health. Those values set different intakes by age and sex, and that is the line the range splits on.

Is it a meal replacement? No, and deliberately so: it is built to complement a food-first approach rather than stand in for a meal. That said, it works fine as a healthy snack or to tie you over, and plenty of people use it that way.

At RRP $6.00, or $5.10 a day on a 28-serve subscription at $142.80, it costs more a serve than The Man Shake's $3.66 and less than a landed import. That buys one sachet in place of a protein powder, a dietary fibre supplement, a multivitamin, a collagen powder and a fish-oil capsule, with no customs question attached. It sells at hlthplus.com, Amazon AU and Chemist Warehouse online.

Who is Huel actually right for?

  • You want the meal, not a supplement to it. A 400-calorie serve in a shaker is what Huel is for, and HLTH+ at 223 calories is not.
  • You avoid soy. Huel states its powder contains no soy; the HLTH+ allergen line reads contains soy. The dairy-free and lactose-free options are set out on their own labels.
  • You are vegan. Huel states all its products are 100% vegan. Part of the 30g protein in HLTH+ is bovine collagen, which is where its 5g collagen comes from, so it is not vegan.

And who should stop waiting: anyone whose real problem is that meals have got smaller and the nutrition has gone with them. A product with no Australian store cannot answer that. The same reasoning on the clinical shelf sits in Sustagen alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Huel ship to Australia?

No. Huel's own help centre lists stores for the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union and Sweden only, and huel.com/en-au returned a 404 on 15 September 2026. Huel staff have written on the brand's forum that Australian customs rejected the parcels, confirming it again in January 2025.

Where can I buy Huel in Australia?

Only through third parties. Amazon AU listed no Huel powder on 15 September 2026, just a Huel-branded shaker bottle at $24.10. Global resellers will ship it, but you buy from them, not Huel, so the landed price, freight, duties and batch date are theirs. Read the listing first.

What does Huel cost in Australian dollars?

Huel publishes no Australian dollar price, because it has no Australian store. Its US store listed Powder from $37.50, or $2.21 a meal, in United States dollars on 15 September 2026. Any Australian figure comes from a reseller and carries their freight and duties, so check it on the day.

What is the closest Australian alternative to Huel?

For a complete meal powder, vybey is the nearest local shape: an Australian-made 100g serve listing 390 calories, 29.4g protein and 8.9g dietary fibre. For nutrition beside meals rather than instead of them, HLTH+ lists 30g protein, 7g dietary fibre, 5g collagen and 60mg DHA per 55g sachet.

Can I use HLTH+ as a meal replacement?

It is not designed as a meal replacement, because it is built to complement a food-first approach rather than stand in for a meal. That said, it works as a healthy snack or to tie you over between meals, and plenty of people use it that way. If a meal replacement is what you want, that is a different category.
